The cooperation partners present a first happening in preparation for the 70th anniversary of the German-Italian recruitment agreement in December 2025.
The artist Alessandra Calò will create an installation inspired by the memory of migration, which will be exhibited at the Italian Cultural Institute Cologne next fall.
The Italian Cultural Institute Cologne and the Makkaroni Akademie invite the Italian community to participate in a meeting with the artist and bring their own memorabilia.

arte e parte is delighted to support the Alessandra Caló's exhibition opening at the Italian Cultural Institute in Cologne as part of XXI Giornata del Contemporaneo 2025.
As the artist states: "Memory is not a fixed trace in a distant time, but a constantly changing process enriched by new contemporary stories.
Mnemosyne is the Greek goddess of memory, and her room could be described as my attempt to revisit the historical event that shaped the history of two nations: Italian migration to Germany.
In the Mnemosyne space, a different photographic language is used to talk about archives, memory, and migration: old images accompany the treaty signed in 1955, while contemporary images represent the testimonies of the new generations.
A sealed envelope, ready to be archived again, preserving history with a new story inside. For here, the official memory of a pluralistic narrative has opened up.
By restoring, adding, and superimposing elements, I have attempted to pick up the thread again to create a new fabric that weaves together collective history and individual experiences."
